Coordinators (y, o, pero, sino) and basic subordinators (porque, si, aunque). Note y→e before /i/, o→u before /o/.
Examples
Padre e hijo.
→ Father and son.
y → e before a word starting with i-/hi-.
Siete u ocho.
→ Seven or eight.
o → u before a word starting with o-/ho-.
No es caro sino barato.
→ It''s not expensive but cheap.
sino (not pero) after a negation introducing the correction.
