que as a relative pronoun (that / which / who). The single most-used connector in Spanish; never dropped the way `that` is in English.
Examples
El libro que leí.
→ The book (that) I read.
Relative `que` cannot be omitted in Spanish.
La mujer que conocí.
→ The woman I met.
Relative `que` for people in defining clauses.
Creo que es verdad.
→ I think (that) it is true.
