subject-pronouns

yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros, vosotros, ellos, ellas, ustedes — usually omitted because the verb ending shows the person. Used for emphasis or contrast.

Examples

Hablo español.
I speak Spanish.
Subject pronoun dropped — verb ending -o marks first person.
Yo trabajo, tú descansas.
I work, you rest.
Pronouns kept for explicit contrast.
Usted habla muy bien.
You speak very well.
Formal you — uses él/ella verb forms.
